direct object is a book. it is a collection of individual reactions to an idea. it is a frame for your objects to cohabitate. it lives in print and online.

how we work

each issue structures and frames a collection of objects centered intimately on a single idea. we will provide this idea as a catalyst. you will submit objects in reaction. these submissions should be literal, definite, exact. the only lens is your perspective on the absolute.

we accept any media, but please limit submissions to one—one photo, one sentence, up to one hundred words of text, one piece of mail, one minute of video, etcetera.

in the same way a window provides both clarity and reflection, we will compile the lenses to frame a composite view of a singular idea.
